Brazos Bend State Park

This is the best known gator park in Texas, home to hundreds of alligators living in the park's lakes and sloughs. Walk the 40 Acre Lake or Elm Lake trails in early morning or late afternoon, spring through fall, when gators bask on the banks. Stay on the boardwalks and trails and keep at least 30 feet back; alligators here are used to people and will not move off the path on their own. Never feed them: it's illegal and it's what causes attacks.
